A big topic in my life: β¨video gamesβ¨
I grew up in the 90s, with Nintendo consoles and PokΓ©mon, but as soon as I got a personal computer at 15, I never went back. A Steam account, the Orange box, and here came thousands of hours on TF2. After this crazy era of monomania over FPS games and LAN turnaments, I played some LoL (we don't talk about LoL) and I started streaming variety gaming on Twitch a bit before the pandemic. It pretty much made me catch up with all the story-driven classics I had missed out on, like Skyrim, Subnautica or the Witcher serie. I ended up playing a lot of obscure indie games, puzzles and FMV games too. I love the Dark Souls serie, GRIS, Inscryption, Dave the Diver, too many to name but I keep a list of everything I've played and streamed so feel free to ask me π

I said in the last lore bit that I was reading scientific literature at uni (and that it was keeping me away from reading for pleasure at that point). I got a few questions about what I graduated in, which is what this is about!
Starting at high-school level, at that time in France, general baccalaureates were either with an economic, literary or a scientific major. I went for science, despite me not loving maths. Biology and chemistry were the classes I enjoyed the most. During the last year of high school, students get to apply to colleges. It's overall free and good public education, but France is known for having "grandes Γ©coles", which is a quirky name for reknown private schools in various fields, like business, engineering, politics, etc. I got selected for famous ones actually, but dropped it all to join a simpler 2 years uni program, focusing on business management, marketing, accounting and law. I've always been a good student, and usually the kind of profile teachers pressure a bit to go for long academic studies. Which I decided against at that point for many reasons. I graduated but my biggest take-away was: It's not for me, and I do not want to wake up for that every morning. I then enrolled for a master program about ecology, conservation and environnemental studies. I lived two years in all the Nordic countries for exchange programs and internships, and as much as I enjoy snow, I've seen enough for a lifetime π I also got to travel to some French islands to work on the impact of light pollution on green turtles, and wrote my thesis about statistical models of climate change (pretty much a bunch of coding with R and pulling graphs and maps of the temperature evolution in the next century).
After graduating, I chose not to go for a PhD and worked in fields that are more or less connected to my studies, but I might go back to school for it one day, who knows :)
