I read as much international literature (in English) as French books. La Horde du contrevent/Wind walkers is the only french title i'll drop here because I think its famous enough to have been translated in a few languages. It's my favorite, I added it to my pop culture tattoo (a bouquet of 5 flowers on my shin, for my 5 favorite pop culture items, i.e. book, movie, band, show, and video game). Any other French literature I enjoy might be too niche but if you read in French, please hit me up and I'll give you my favorites!

I grew up reading a lot of Stephen King. I didn't read much for pleasure while at uni, scientific literature for my master degree was enough 😅 But I've been craving it lately, and tried to make more time for it in my very connected and online life. I read the Silmarillion last year but I must say, it might have discouraged me from reading more Tolkien. Flowers for Algernon is a book I think of very often, I highly recommend it, its quite short and easy to read. The House of the Dragon HBO show made me read Fire and Blo*d over the past few weeks, I enjoyed that.

Among my latest reads: Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, Exit West by Mohsin Hamid, The unbearable lightness of being by Milan Kundera.

I love music, with a strong affinity for power metal, nu-metal, and synthwave. Ghost is the band I've seen live the most, they put on a great performance and they mean a lot to me for many reasons. Also Powerwolf, Sabaton, Gojira, Devin Townsend Project, Sonata Artica, Meshuggah etc. I enjoy goth music, post-punk, cold/new wave, doomer stuff, im just terrible with genres so i'll just name some: David Bowie, Molchat Doma, The Cure, Depeche Mode, NIN, A Perfect Circle, Health, Duran Duran, ok I'll have to stop listing at some point. I don't listen to a lot of music in french, but there are some noticeable french bands to mention, like Daft Punk ( 😭 ) or weird niche bands like Die Form.

I could not get enough of SOAD, Korn, Slipknot while in high-school and I'm kind of having a revival of that phase these days. I'd love to see them live, one day maybe :)

We stick to games OSTs on Twitch stream, for copyright reasons, so my Spotify wraps never reflect what I truly enjoy. I used to use Soundcloud a lot, and have playlists for any occasions (work, 🍃, sex, playing video games, etc) but that was more an EDM, house music phase, with Maya Jane Cole, M|O|O|N, etc. Also, I always save the music that's playing while I'm getting tattooed, and they always end up having a special place in my heart for that reason :)

Last time, I talked about movies, let's start the year honoring my favorite shows.

Breaking Bad is an all-time favorite, I rewatch it regularly. Its spin-off Better Call Saul only makes me wonder if I can pick between the two because they're both perfect to me, in terms of writing, acting, visuals. The only differences are the pace, action scenes, and which one came out first, really. I'm this close 🤏 to visit New Mexico just to see some of the locations in person.

No matter how much I watch it, The Office US always makes me laugh. I'm particular about comedy, I can't quite pinpoint what I love so much about it, because not all cringe humor does it for me. I even avoid comedy movies, but shows have been more easier to get into for that. Arrested Development is another level of writing but I loved the first 3 seasons as well. Philomena Cunk absolutely deserves a mention here as well, I can't wait for the next season!
