a few of my friends have complimented me on my work ethic recently, saying “you’re the hardest worker and i admire that about you” which got me thinking, and eventually upon ruminating on it actually bummed me out. i’m flattered but it also sucks to be defined by your work ethic when you have no other choices. i’ve been grinding my whole entire life and all i truly deeply want is a fulfilling vacation. i do take some random days off from hustling but i can’t do that too often because unfortunately being inactive online affects my income. so even when i’m resting, i’m grinding. however, i also love doing this so it’s not a hassle for me at all, but to say it keeps me busy is an understatement. i’m not gonna be just churning shit out cause i wanna fill up posting space - i pour tireless amounts of effort, time and energy into my content, i hope this shows through.
i’m so over it though, and by “it” i mean the capitalist grind culture as a whole. fuck grinding and hustling for survival. if we had more social programs and less social media, i truly believe we would have a happier society. the truth is we are all addicted to money and reliant on the grind that no matter where we are or what we are doing (even independent content creators such as myself are part of a large ass corporation/platform) we are always wage slaves and that’s the T sis. until a full blown revolution happens, nothing can be done about it and it just sucks. i get fully depressed thinking about it. if you didn’t come from money or get a wild stroke of luck then you just work and suffer. it’s truly cruel, the suffering of most of the country while the 1% sits on their asses and collects insane sums of money that they could use to help out their fellow humans but choose not to.
i don’t think basic healthcare, housing, and education is a big ask or that extreme/radical of an idea. we only live once on this planet, why can’t our collective basic needs be taken care of? i read recently that 85% of americans are unhappy with their jobs, and that does not surprise me at all. i’ve been lucky and i liked my vanilla jobs/day jobs but i was extremely overworked and literally always exhausted. in that regard i’m glad to have these 2020 circumstances arise, even though it’s a huge financial stressor. in so many ways i prefer doing this, i love working from home, and am beyond grateful to you for supporting me ❤️ my goal is to be able to maintain this full time (don’t even get me started on the anxiety of maintenance - that will be a separate post) and make a living from it. thank you for being the VIPs of my simp-ulation. i really appreciate you 🥺
